Newly manufactured 9x12 film holders and sheet-film adapters for classic European plate cameras, designed to use modern 9x12 cm sheet film while respecting the camera’s original back interface and film plane.
The holder designs are now essentially complete and field testing has begun on real cameras and film.

Why this exists
Built for photographers who want to use their cameras, not just display them.
Many classic 9x12 cameras survive with good lenses and working shutters, but without usable holders. In other cases, original cassettes exist yet are difficult to load consistently, missing parts, or no longer trustworthy for light-tight field use.
Classic Film Holders focuses on replacement holders that respect the camera's original geometry while reducing the friction of actually making photographs with it.

ICA Volta 9x12 Sheet Film Holder
The first holder in development is a 9x12 cm model for the ICA Volta family. It is intended for photographers who have a working camera body but need a reliable, newly made holder for practical use.
Contessa-Nettel · 9x12 cm
Contessa-Nettel Sonnar 9x12 Sheet Film Holder
A dedicated replacement holder for the Contessa-Nettel Sonnar, developed and physically fitted on a real camera. The design keeps the original camera usable with modern 9x12 cm sheet film while preserving the existing back interface.

Design essentially complete. Field testing is now underway.

Field testing
Real film exposures are now being used to check film-plane accuracy, handling, light-tightness and reliability in normal photographic use.
What happens next
Any final production refinements will follow the field tests. Pricing, lead times and ordering details will be published after that stage.
